Anyone Can Be Hit Girl For Halloween

hit girl costumeIf you have seen the movie Kickass you are no doubt familiar with Hit Girl, the foul mouthed, ultraviolent, superhero who fights crime along side her father. Her particular brand of vigilante heroism has no compunctions about brutally killing any bad guys that get in her way. Perhaps the most striking thing about Hit Girl, however, is her age.

When she is not fighting crime with her father, whose super hero alias is Big Daddy, Hit Girl looks like the average 10-year-old. She is often seen wearing her long golden blonde hair in pigtails. Her clothes are similar to that of any normal young girl: jeans or a cute skirt and a pink jacket. Hiding under the jacket, however, is a bulletproof vest. But when she puts on the vinyl suit, purple wig, and domino mask, Hit Girl becomes a martial arts expert and a killing machine.

In the movie, Hit Girl and Big Daddy are motivated by revenge. It is soon learned that Big Daddy’s real name is Damon Macready. He is an ex-police officer who was one of the good guys. But, when Macready wanted to fight corruption, both on the streets and within the police ranks, he was framed in a drug bust by none other than notorious crime boss Frank D’Amico. While Macready is in jail, his wife can no longer keep up with the bills or the stresses of life without her husband, so she commits suicide. She was pregnant with Hit Girl, who survives.

Once Macready is out of jail he begins his plot to take down D’Amico and his entire criminal enterprise. He trains his daughter to be a vicious vigilante and expert martial artist. Hit Girl becomes exactly what her father wanted: a killing machine ready to exact revenge on those who wronged her and Big Daddy.

Though Hit Girl was a violent 10-year-old in the movie, any adult can dress like her for Halloween. Some online stores have authentic costumes that are licensed by the Kickass franchise. These are as close to Hit Girl as you can get. They include the purple wig, mask, purple costume with skirt and pants, belt, and gloves. The quality is remarkable and the look matches that of the movie’ heroine perfectly!
